Weekly Time Waster

Hello everyone and welcome to Weekly Time Waster!  My name is Scott or Canadian Scott if you prefer and my area of nerd love comes from watching movies.  I love them all; sometimes the worse a movie is, the more I love it.  This weekly column is going to be bringing you some of the new release movies from the week relevant to us in the nerd world.  I won’t be giving you spoilers but instead you’ll get to see some trailers and my thoughts on the movie.  Enjoy and feel free to let me know of any others you think I missed.

We are doing much better than last week when we had to stretch on a couple of choices but all is right again with the world of movies with this week’s choices:

The Man with the Iron Fists

Robot and Frank

Silent Hill: Revelation

Bigfoot’s Wild Weekend

Join me to learn more…

The Man with the Iron Fists

In a movie I swore I would watch last year but never got to do it.  This thing looks like a cross between Mortal Kombat and Enter the Dragon!  Plus it is brought to you buy the minds of Eli Roth, Quentin Tarantino and Rza of Wu Tang Clan.  If you are looking for a mental challenge of a movie then perhaps you need to move along here.

Robot and Frank

In what I would love to think is a prequel to Masters of the Universe, Skeletor is starting to get old and lonely.  His adult children, played by an Elf (Liv Tyler) and Cyclops (James Marsden), get him a robot to become his companion.  What we learn is that Skeletor is a former thief and when he sees a new opportunity he begins to train the robot to help him steal.  I would like to think that the last thing he steals is a teleportation device that sends him to Eternia.

Silent Hill: Revelation

For all the haters out there, I really loved the first Silent Hill.  It kinda lost me with all the cult/religious stuff but overall I really enjoyed this movie.  What makes me confused though is that the girl and mother from the first movie didn’t “really” leave Silent Hill…oh well who am I to question.  I just hope this is the first movie that Sean Bean stays alive the whole way through.  Interesting fact about this movie, Writer/Director Michael J. Bassett was hired to make this film after the original writer, Roger Avary (writer of the first Silent Hill film from 2006) was convicted and sentenced to prison for manslaughter.

Bigfoot’s Wild Weekend

So a tabloid magazine gets their junior report to go out into the sticks and offers $25, 000 to anyone who can find the elusive Bigfoot!  But it turns out Bigfoot is just a crazy party animal.  I never thought I would see Bigfoot masturbating but here we are…

I hope you enjoy this week’s selection and we’ll see you next week!
