In news that noone will really care about, Jeff Sneider (who appeared in last years Chronicle) is “being considered” for the role of Human Torch in the almost certain Fantastic 4 film reboot Fox need to churn out to keep the rights to those characters.
I would try to say something witty to articulate why this both meaningless and that you should just ignore Twitter for the next 24 hours. However Vince Manchini over at Filmdrunk articulated it much better than me and made me realise how much a suspension of disbelief exists for me when it comes to superheroes.
Let’s not forget, we’re talking about The Human Torch here, a character named “Johnny Storm,” who is literally flaming. The people worried that the character might be black don’t seem at all troubled by the fact that he’s super duper gay. Not that there’s anything wrong with that. Some of my best friends are gay superheros. Look, all I’m saying is, if a black guy playing The Human Torch is something that legitimately troubles you, I’m going to wedgie you with your own Klan robes, you tumbling, tumbling dickweed.
So, who would be pretty psyched to see a gay Human Torch?
