Its fair to say, that when it comes to heavy metal, it looms large over the geeky and nerd industry. Most of the founding inspirations that influence our culture come from it at some point, perhaps in part because its a release for smart people or outsiders to mainstream culture. One of the biggest bands is Iron Maiden. I’ve got to admit I lost interest an album or two ago, but its nice to see frontman Bruce Dickinson is using his riches and profile to help those who need it more than most.
It turns out hes a vice-patron of Flying Scholarships for Disabled People, which helps those with disabilities attain pilots licences. Which is pretty bloody cool.
