Developer and publisher team Nyu-Media and Astro Port seems to know that sometimes what we wanted is to just blow shit up in the most spectacular fashion possible, and thus gave us the doujin shooter “Gigantic Army”. You are the pilot of the GMR-34 Saladin mech, possibly named after the infamous Moslem General who wrecked all of Europeans’ shit during the Crusades. Just like its badass namesake, the Saladin is tasked to wreck all of the robot enemies’ shit with a wide variety of unbridled, pure explosive FREEDOM!
Veteran gamers might recognize that the game is very much reminiscent to Assault Suits Valken, known in the west as Cybernator, or perhaps Front Mission: Gun Hazard sans the experience/leveling system. While the slower pace doesn’t exactly replicate the explodey good time classics feel of titles like Gunstar Heroes, the fact that you are a giant fuck mecha BLASTING THE SHIT OUT OF OTHER GIANT FUCK MECHAS should fill you with all of the familiar, pleasurable tingles that usually came from toppling giants against all odds.
Gigantic Army is is available on Steam right now, and if you’re STILL on the fence about buying what looked to be a grand ol’ time, our pal-slash-nemesis over at Attack on Gaming has a review up to help sway your impulse buy urges.
Or maybe you just hate freedom, in which case I have nothing to say to you. Weirdo.
