I have never read Miracleman before the current Marvel Comics reprints. I will be here to give you my impression of them as a first time reader as they continue to be released.
Miracleman #7 picks up where the last issue left off with Dr. Gargunza telling Liz about the origins of Miracleman and Project Zarathustra. Basically everything that made it possible came from a weird alien ship. Gargunza was able to comprehend just enough of the surface technology to create the dream machines and create human alien super bodies for his test subjects. But Gargunza could not preform the process on himself. Gargunza needs to steal Liz Moran’s super baby so he can put his consciousness into that body because he wants to live forever.
That night Miracleman and Mr. Cream arrive to rescue Liz and the plan quickly falls apart. Gargunza was prepared for their arrival and has a way to deactivate Miracleman forcing him to turn back into regular out of shape Mike Moran. And it turns out Gargunza has another surprise. His little dog turns into a scary looking alien monster when he says a trigger word, he tested the process on animals before using it on humans. So Mike and Mr. Cream are given a head start before the monster dog starts chasing them. Cream tries to lead the monster away to give Mike some time to recover so he can change back into Miracleman. As Cream runs he has some final thoughts about how the only thing white people ever really had to offer other races was death before getting his head sliced off. It is too bad Mr. Cream is dead now. I was interested in seeing more about his character.
Once again some comments are made about how inferior Mike Moran is to Miracleman and how Mike is a coward and I still don’t buy it. We have really not seen much of what kind of man Mike Moran is. So far the most cowardly thing he has done in the series is change into Miracleman one time to avoid and argument with his wife. Well in the last pages the ‘miracledog’ catches up with Mike so I guess next issue we will find out what he is really made of.
