Friday, September 4, was Force Friday, the special launch date for the new Star Wars: The Force Awakens product line. Stores were packed! People were overrun! Contests were held! I went to Toys R Us on Saturday, and this was the only thing left:
Poor Zuvio. Anyway, this guy has een prominent in both the 3 3/4″ line (the one I picked up) and the 6″ scale Black line. So, what sort of prominent character is Constable Zuvio?
I’ll be honest, I have no clue. It looks like he’s law enforcement on Planet Jakku, and if I were a betting man I would guess that he has maybe one scene and a line or two, tops. But hey, he’s a new alien!
In the last few years, Star Wars has cheaped its way back to the 1970s – note the five points of articulation, and hilariously clumsy robe cut for his legs. That’s it, folks. Zuvio can’t even sit like a normal human being!
But the sculpt is decent, I will give it that – he clearly isn’t human, but exactly what he is remains to be seen. I assume he’ll be like Dexter Jettster from Attack of the Clones: Prominent in the first wave of toys, one scene in the movie.
Aside from his rifle and backpack, Zuvio also comes with two pieces of a build-a-droid, which coincidentally look like axes – this means he has more weapons, though they are almost too big for his hands.
Overall, it’s not a bad deal for about $7, it just isn’t anywhere near what we’ve gotten in years past.
Constable Zuvio could function as an army builder, but this really is just speculation. If he ends up really prominent andcool in the movie, my opinion will likely do a 180. But if he’s just a random alien, then he isn’t s interesting as the many other aliens inhabint the Star Wars film series. But hey – the toys are out! And let the speculation begin!
Gah!!! 5-points of articulation. I was sure we were going to get past this. I was sure it was going to end with the Rebels garbage they were putting out. Oh well, I guess I will just focus on the 6 inch line…if they ever come back into the store.
